Brooks Conrad, an injury replacement, clubbed a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning, as the Atlanta Braves rallied to beat Houston, 4-2, in the second portion of a three-game series at Minute Maid Park.
Conrad took over at third base in the bottom of the sixth after Chipper Jones sprained his left knee while making a spectacular defensive play. He walked to begin the seventh and scored the game’s first run on a single by Troy Glaus, who added a solo blast in the ninth off Houston’s Matt Lindstrom (2-3).
The Astros had taken advantage of sloppy Braves defense to pull ahead in the eighth.
