Texas Tech Releases Statement On Texas A&M Bus Situation

Texas Tech released an official statement regarding the Texas A&M team bus vandalism. Previously the school had regarded the accusation that Texas Tech students were responsible as an "unfounded" report.

As you can see above, Texas Tech's claims are a little different than the previous reports by Texas A&M. Following the incident, no police report was filed with the Lubbock police department and Texas Tech is conducting its own investigation.

Lubbock Police Not Investigating Vandalism Of Texas A&M Buses

Before what may have been Texas A&M's last football game ever in Lubbock, the Aggies' bus was vandalized by "unknown" suspects. Expletives and vulgarities were spray-painted on the outside, while the interior of the bus was used as a public restroom.

However, while the story got plenty of national attention, the Lubbock police say they don't know anything about it:

"We have absolutely nothing on it. Not one report was received related to this incident, nor do we have any pictures," DPS Corporal John Gonzalez said.

LPD Spokesman Sgt. Jonathan Stewart said "We have no reports of the incident."

The Texas Tech athletic department is conducting its own investigation, but there doesn't appear to be many leads at the moment.

As the Red Raiders Communication Director Chris Cook pointed out, there's no way to know who could be behind this act of vandalism that may or may not have even occurred:

"It's unfair and unfortunate that our students were immediately pinpointed as the culprits in this alleged incident - it's unfounded."

Texas A&M Vs. Texas Tech: Aggies Hold Off Red Raiders To Win 45-40

The Texas A&M Aggies held off the comeback attempt by the Texas Tech Red Raiders and won 45-40. Texas A&M had given up double-digit leads to the Oklahoma St. Cowboys and the Arkansas Razorbacks in each of the past two weeks, but Saturday night they held off a Texas Tech to win in another high scoring game.

The Texas A&M defense stepped up in this matchup by not allowing Texas Tech to score touchdowns, but instead held them to four field goals and holding Texas Tech to those field goals was the key difference in this game. Texas Tech quarterback Seth Doege was able to move the ball tonight and had a good night by throwing for 389 yards and three touchdowns, but when Texas Tech moved into Texas A&M territory they had multiple drives stall and had to settle for field goals.

Texas Tech also had difficulty running the ball when they lost their starting running back Eric Stephens to a left leg injury. Stephens had 102 yards before he left the game at the end of the third quarter, and the Texas Tech running game was not the same for the rest of the game.

Texas A&M was more balanced and was led by quarterback Ryan Tannnehill who passed for a modest 189 yards and one touchdown, but he also ran for 55 yards and two scores. The running game for Texas A&M got going once they started giving the ball to Cyrus Gray in the second quarter. On the day Gray rushed for 115 yards and had one touchdown; Christine Michael also played a key roll in the rushing game with 52 yards and a touchdown.

Texas A&M is 3-2 on the year and host the Baylor Bears next week.

Texas A&M Vs. Texas Tech: Aggies Hold Red Raiders To Another Field Goal, Lead 45-33

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have been stifled when they get into the Texas A&M Aggies side of the field and have been held to four field goals on the night. Even with the multiple field goals instead of touchdowns, the game is not over since Texas Tech has the ability to score quickly.

Texas A&M responded to Texas Tech's touchdown which cut the lead 38-30 by scoring on a six play drive that took only 1:39 of the clock to go up 45-30 on a 5-yard touchdown reception by Michael Lamothe. On the ensuing kick off by Texas A&M they allowed Texas Tech to return the ball to midfield, but the Texas A&M defense held up again and held Texas Tech to a 30 yard field goal that hit the upright and then went through to cut the lead to 45-33.

Eric Stephens Injury: Stephens Suffers Left Leg Injury, Taken To Locker Room On Cart

The Texas Tech Red Raiders drove down the field and scored a touchdown to get cut the score 38-30, but on the drive Texas Tech lost running back Eric Stephens to an apparent knee injury. The injury occurred on a first-and-goal passing play where Stephens ran out to the flat and was the intended target on pass, but as he was in process of catching the ball and turn up field, Stephens dropped the ball.

Stephens stumbled when trying to catch the ball and was then hit in the left knee by Texas A&M linebacker Damontre Moore, who was attempting to tackle Stephens. Moore tackled Stephens low and got his left knee. Stephens' leg bent one way when Stephens body went the other way. Stephens let out a scream that was clearly audible when he was hit.

The training staff attended to Stephens on the field for almost 10 minutes and was not able to get up on his own power so he had to be carried by the training staff off the field and placed onto a cart to be assessed in the locker room. Stephens appeared to have an air cast or brace on his left leg when he was placed on the cart.

Texas A&M Vs. Texas Tech: Aggie Terrence Frederick Returns Blocked Field Goal For Touchdown, Lead 38-23

The Texas A&M Aggies are looking like they are going to hold onto a double-digit second half lead for the first time this season. The Aggies held Texas Tech to their third field goal of the game and when Texas Tech lined up for their fourth field goal attempt, but the kicking team was called for a false start penalty that pushed the kick back to a 50 yard attempt.

On the kick, Texas A&M defender Jarvis Harrison broke through the offensive line and blocked the field goal attempt which was then returned by defensive back Terrence Frederick 63 yards for the touchdown to increase the Texas A&M lead to 15 points.

This 38-23 lead is by no means safe for Texas A&M as they have lost two games that were they were leading by more than 10 points going into the second half. Texas Tech is a team that is capable of scoring in bunches, so Texas A&M needs to finish this game strong if they are to preserve this lead.

Texas A&M Vs. Texas Tech: Aggies Lead 31-20 At The Half

The Texas A&M Aggies have used their defense to somewhat slow down the Texas Tech Red Raiders offense by holding them to a pair of field goals and not allowing Texas Tech to score touchdowns on those drives.

The only difference between these two teams so far on offense is that Texas A&M is getting more done on the ground attack and have 145 yards to Texas Tech's 65 yards. Texas A&M finally started using Cyrus Gray who did not get his first carry until the second quarter and has 75 yards on the grounds and a touchdown so far.

Both teams have been passing the ball very well with Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill who is 12-for-16 with 156 yards and two touchdowns, plus he has ran for 55 yards and two touchdowns on the grouns. Texas Tech quarterback Seth Doege is 20-for-27 with 160 yards and one touchdown.

The second half will be huge for Texas A&M since they have blown double-digit second half leads to both Arkansas and Oklahoma State due to those teams being able to pass all over the Texas A&M secondary.

Texas A&M Vs. Texas Tech: Aggies Use Cyrus Gray To Take 17-13 Lead

The Texas A&M Aggies and Texas Tech Red Raider offenses slowed down just a little bit after each team scored a touchdown on their opening drive. Both teams then went onto exchange field goals with Texas A&M kicking a 45-yard field goal and then followed by Texas Tech kicking a 49-yard field goal to tie the game at 10 points apiece.

The latest scoring drive was by Texas A&M who drove down the field on seven plays for 73 yards and it only took them a mere 2:23 to get into the endzone on a Cyrus Gray 16 yard touchdown run. Gray rushed the ball five times for 43 yards on that drive and those carries were the first touches of the game for Gray.

Texas Tech went on to respond to Texas A&M's touchdown by kicking a 27-yard field goal to make the score 17-13.

Texas A&M Vs. Texas Tech: Aggies, Red Raiders Score On Opening Drive, Game Tied At 7-7

Texas A&M scored quickly on their first drive and it was led by quarterback Ryan Tannehill on the Aggies opening drive. Tannehill went 2-for-3 for 50 yards and rushed for 33 yards including the 19 yard run that led to the quick score. The entirety of the drive went seven plays for 83 yards and Tannehill had his hand in all of those yards.

Not to be outdone, the Texas Tech Raiders drove done easily against the Texas A&M defense. Quarterback Seth Doege went 5-for-8 passing for 43 yards on that opening drive.

On the 13 play drive, Texas Tech needed to complete a fourth-and-one by running back Eric Stephens who took the shotgun snap to gain the one yard needed to get the first down and keep the drive alive. Doege finished the drive by completing a two-yard touchdown run to Adam James to tie the game at seven apiece.

Texas A&M Vs. Texas Tech: TV Schedule, Game Spread And More

If tonight's game really is the last in the series (for the time being), Texas A&M is hoping they'll end their Big 12 rivalry with Texas Tech on a healing note: No matter what the game looks like early, all eyes will be on Mike Sherman's Aggies in the second half to see if they could close out a suspicious 4-0 Red Raider team.

I Am The 12th Man contends that Tech's lack of a receiving corps will make this the easiest of the Aggies' three most recent games, as the A&M secondary's collapse accelerated back-to-back second-half implosions against Oklahoma State and Arkansas:

This Texas Tech team actually looks like it will be our easiest game of the last three we've played. True, we're going on the road to Lubbock, and we have some serious questions about our secondary play, but Tech simply doesn't have the talent at WR that Arkansas or Oklahoma State does. There is no Justin Blackmon on the Tech roster, no wide receiver corps heralded as 'the best in college football' in Lubbock.

For the Red Raiders, the point is obvious: play a full four quarters and hope that A&M's second half woes continue. Double-T Nation worries that lightning won't strike three times in a row:

A&M has been fast out of the blocks against some pretty good competition the last couple of weeks.  If we spot them 3 touchdowns, as demoralizing as it would be to see them melt down in the 2nd half again (and as much as I would enjoy it), this game is almost a must win for A&M.  If we give up a big lead early, they will not give it up again.  I hope that a night game will give our guys plenty of time to shake off the cobwebs and come out pumped and ready to play.  If we come out rolling, it's going to be a long bus ride back to College Station.

Game date, time: 6:00 PM CT, Saturday October 7

Location: Jones AT&T Stadium, Lubbock, Texas

TV Channel: FX

Spread: Texas A&M favored by 9.5.
