After dropping a heartbreaking 6-5 game to Southern Mississippi on Friday night, the Houston Cougars responded with a 6-5 win of their own on Saturday, evening the their three-game series with the Golden Eagles at one game apiece.

A fine performance was turned in by Dustin Fuerst, a freshman pitcher out of Tomball, Texas (Spring High School). Fuerst entered the game in the fifth inning, and gave up only one run on one hit the rest of the way, good enough to earn him his first win as a Houston Cougar.

After a rough stretch, the Cougars don't have much time to get back to the .500 mark. With the win over Southern Miss, the Cougars sit at 23-27 on the season overall, and 10-10 in Conference USA play.

Houston concludes their series with Southern Mississippi Sunday at Cougar field at 1PM. Following that, Houston finishes out their home schedule with one game against UTSA on Tuesday night, 6:30PM, before traveling to Memphis to take on the Tigers in a three-game set to finish the regular season.
