The Texas A&M Aggies suffered their second SEC loss of the season Saturday, a 24-19 defeat at the hands of LSU.
After winning five consecutive games, Texas A&M was knocked back to Earth Saturday by LSU. The Tigers defeated the Aggies, 24-19, dropping A&M to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in SEC play. The Aggies are now tied with Arkansas for fourth place in the SEC West.
With the win, LSU improved to 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the SEC. The Tigers are a half game behind Mississippi State (7-0, 3-0) and a full game behind Alabama (7-0, 4-0) in the West. With games remaining against the the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide, LSU still controls its destiny in the division.
Over in the Eastern Division, what was supposed to be a tight contest between Florida and South Carolina turned into a 44-11 romp for the Gators. The win improved Florida to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play. South Carolina (6-2, 4-2) is all but eliminated from contention in the East.
Four teams remain without an SEC win this season. Missouri and Tennessee are 0-4 in conference games, and Auburn and Kentucky are 0-5. The teams are a combined 8-21 overall.
