LSU Bye Week: After A&M, Bama looms large

Brett Davis-US PRESSWIRE

LSU is currently on a bye week, and they'll need the time they'll get from it as they face the Alabama Crimson Tide in their next game.

The LSU Tigers have been cardiac kids of sorts this season compared to the world-beaters they were last season. LSU's dominance in 2011 took them to a National Championship, even as they lost a low-scoring affair to the Alabama Crimson Tide. They may be 7-1 with a great shot at a BCS Bowl if nothing else, but their wins have typically been of the close variety this season.

Coming off of their bye week, they'll be facing the best team in the nation. Keeping it close could be a good thing as they take on the No. 1 Crimson Tide.

Alabama has yet to lose a game this season, and their 7-0 record is only bolstered by the stats from those games -- namely, the fact that the Tide have yet to allow more than 14 points in a game this year while scoring over 40 points three times.

Fortunately for the Bayou Bengals, they'll have plenty of time to draw up a game plan to keep the game close and perhaps sneak a win out against Alabama on Nov. 3.
