Texas A&M vs. Auburn 2012: Aggies fans pleased with strong starts

No. 16 Texas A&M recovered from a disappointing loss to LSU by going on the road and dismantling Auburn, beating the Tigers 63-21 on Saturday night.

The Aggies (6-2, 3-2) got off to yet another explosive start, leading 28-0 less than two minutes into the second quarter. The Tigers would respond with a touchdown of their own on the following possession, with Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel leading the offense on two more scoring drives in the first half.

Holding a 42-7 lead after 30 minutes, Manziel would play just over a half in the game before Jamaal Showers came into the game in relief. Auburn would eventually score 21 points in the game, but not before the Aggies added 21 more in the second half.

The dominant performance by the road team would lead Ranger222 of Good Bull Hunting to wax poetic about the high level of competence the Aggies have shown in their first season in the SEC:

These boys, just like every single weekend, came to play. That has to be the most encouraging thing to take away from the entire season -- the effort displayed by Texas A&M every single Saturday. In the first year with a head coach, that is what you want to see. Yes, we have come up short against Florida and LSU, and had some missteps against Ole Miss and Louisiana Tech on the road that almost cost us. But the Aggies have been well-prepared for every game, come out playing on fire, and given us a chance to win every single game. There is nothing more you can ask. That is a sign of a well-coached team. The SEC and the rest of the country better be watching what is going on in Aggieland. It will be a national story in due time.

The Aggies have two more tough tests on their schedule, starting with No. 15 Mississippi State on Nov. 3. Texas A&M will play No. 1 Alabama on Nov. 10.
