D.J. Hayden has heart and has the scars to prove it. After suffering a nearly-fatal rupture to a vein in his chest in practice on Nov. 6, the Houston Chronicle reports that Houston Cougars' cornerback visited his team during a meeting on Monday.

The vein rupture was 95 percent fatal, according to doctors, and is most associated with high-speed car crashes. Team physician Dr. Walter Lowe added that this injury has never been associated with football. Hayden spent six days in critical condition at a local hospital before being discharged early Monday.

Upon his visit, head coach Tony Levine said "It's an absolute miracle and complete blessing. Guys have been thinking about him nonstop for the past week. It meant a lot to the guys to see him."

Despite the severity of the injury, the prognosis for Hayden seems good. He should be able to resume normal, non-contact activities in the next 3-4 months.
