Johnny Manziel and the 15th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies shocked the college football world with a 29-24 upset of the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. Manziel and A&M went into Tuscaloosa, jumped ahead early, and held on for dear life the rest of the way.

The Aggies put up 20 points in the first quarter to take the early advantage on Alabama. Christine Michael rushed it in twice on 1-yard scampers, and Johnny Manziel hit Ryan Swope for a 10-yard scamper. A&M piled up more than 200 yards of offense, taking advantage of an Alabama turnover and also conducting two methodical drives.

Alabama responded in the second quarter with two big drives of 67 and 68 yards, and T.J. Yeldon and Eddie Lacy each punched it in at the goal-line to make it 20-14 at halftime. Alabama would drive into A&M territory in the third quarter, but couldn't punch it in. Jeremy Shelley settled for a 28-yard field goal to cut the A&M lead to 20-17.

A&M responded with two scoring drives in the fourth quarter, with Manziel finding Malcome Kennedy for a 24-yard strike to make it 29-17. A.J. McCarron responded with a 54-yard touchdown throw to Amari Cooper to keep Alabama in it, then found Kenny Bell to set up Alabama with first-and-goal and a chance to win. But McCarron's potential game-winning throw was intercepted at the goal line, and A&M held on for the upset.

The only third quarter scoring came on a 28-yard field goal by Alabama's Jeremy Shelley with 5:41 remaining in the third. The field goal capped off a 10-play drive that was aided by an A.J. McCarron completion to Eddie Lacy for 21 yards.

Texas A&M maintains lead over 'Bama at half

After Texas A&M scored the first 20 points of the game, a touchdown run by Alabama Crimson Tide running back Eddie Lacy with 19 seconds left in the second quarter made the score 20-14 at halftime.

Alabama scored earlier in the quarter on a touchdown run by T.J. Yeldon.

The Aggies scored all 20 of their points in the first quarter on two touchdowns by Christine Michael and a 10-yard touchdown pass from Johnny Manziel to Ryan Swope.

Aggies build big lead in first quarter over Bama

The Texas A&M Aggies have gone into Tuscalossa, Al. to face the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide and have come away with a 20-0 lead after the first quarter in front of a stunned Crimson Tide crowd.

Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel has proven to be quite the problem for Alabama's defense where he is both a threat to run and pass the ball. Manziel already has 76 yards on 10-for-11 passing and one touchdown as well as five carries for 74 yards rushing. The Aggies have had the ball for 10:29 compared to the Crimson Tide's 4:21 which has aided in the Aggies holding the Crimson Tide's offense to a total of 34 yards.

Christine Michael has two rushing touchdowns and Manziel has one passing touchdown for the Aggies.

After the Crimson Tide barely escaped the LSU Tigers last week, the Aggies apparently smell blood as the invincibility cloak that has surrounded the Crimson Tide all season seems to be losing its strength.
