Pat Knight's Lamar Cardinals Won Two Since Rant

When Pat Knight decided to go on his anger-fueled rant about his seniors last Wednesday, I got a peek before the thing went viral. I was on the desk that night, putting my boss' story on the page about that game. In reading over it, I was very surprised to see him be so frank and so harsh about his team.

At the same time, he's Bob Knight's son, so I'm not entirely shocked. He's been pretty frank about this team all season, through a couple different scandals and suspensions. The thing to remember, though, is he wasn't just reacting in the moment. He knew exactly what he was doing.

And, so far, it's worked. After saying his Lamar team wouldn't win another game all season, the Cardinals have won the last two and are tied with McNeese State for second place in the Southland Conference. That's pretty important heading into the conference tournament next week.

Either way, it's proof that his tirade was effective if still pretty inflammatory. I only wish I could have been there for it...
