Samuel Dalembert Injury: Houston Rockets Center Suffering Back Problems, According To Report

Houston Rockets center Samuel Dalembert is nursing a bad back, according to the Houston Chronicle's Jonathan Feigen:

That potentially leaves the Rockets with two missing centers suffering back issues - Marcus Camby missed Monday's loss to the Nuggets with back issues after playing just under eight minutes on Saturday night in Denver. If both Camby and Dalembert are unavailable for Wednesday's crucial game against Dallas, second year man Patrick Patterson could get the nod. Feigen notes he's 1 of 14 against the Mavericks in his career.

The Rockets have lost four straight, including two crucial games to a Nuggets team they're competing with in the Western Conference playoff race. Houston is tied with Portland for the final playoff spot, but in ninth place due to a lesser conference record.

Rockets Vs. Nuggets: Houston Falls At Home, Hurting Playoff Chances

For the second night in a row, the Rockets led the Nuggets at halftime, but lost the game. Both losses hurt Houston's playoff hopes, as the teams were tied in the standings entering Sunday.

The Rockets lost a vital home game Monday night, as the Nuggets used a strong second half to rally for a 105-102 win. With the loss, the Rockets lead the ninth-place Phoenix Suns by a half-game in the Western Conference standings, and the Suns currently are playing.

Goran Dragic and Chandler Parsons both finished with 21 points. Luis Scola had a double-double with 14 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists.

The Rockets led by nine at one point in the third quarter, but the Nuggets chipped away and eventually led by one at the end of the quarter. Houston had a chance to tie in the final seconds, but Scola missed a two-pointer trailing by two with five seconds left and Parson missed a long three-pointer at the buzzer.

After shooting 35.6 percent in the first half, the Nuggets shot 57.1 percent in the second half, finishing at 47.5 percent for the game. The Rockets shot 42.6 percent for the game, including 27.6 percent (8-for-29) from three-point range.

Rockets Vs. Nuggets Score Update: Houston Leads Vital Game 51-44 At Halftime

Hanging on to their playoff spot by a thread, the Houston Rockets lead the Denver Nuggets 51-44 at halftime in Houston.

Entering Monday, the Rockets were the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference — one game behind the Nuggets following Houston's loss in Denver on Sunday. The Rockets also are one game ahead of the Phoenix Suns for the final playoff spot, so Monday's game is extremely important for both teams. The Rockets led Sunday's game in Denver at halftime, but the Nuggets outscored Houston 37-19 in the third quarter and cruised to a win.

The Rockets led by 11 multiple times in Monday's first half, but Aaron Afflalo's 17 points helped lead the Nuggets back into the game. Courtney Lee leads Houston with 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting. Chandler Parsons has 11 points and Luis Scola has eight points. The Rockets shot 4-for-14 from three-point range, but held Denver to 35.6 shooting (16-for-45) from the floor.

Rockets Vs. Nuggets: Marcus Camby Out With Back Injury

The Houston Rockets will continue to fight for their playoff lives Monday against the Denver Nuggets without the services of veteran center Marcus Camby, who is out with a back injury:

Camby, who was acquired at the NBA's trade deadline from Portland, has averaged 6.9 points and 9.0 rebounds during 15 games with the Rockets. He managed just eight minutes in Houston's loss at Denver on Sunday, which dropped them to a full game behind the Nuggets in the Western Conference standings.

The Rockets are now 32-28 and hold the eighth seed, but are just a game and a half up on Utah, who is in tenth place.

Houston finishes its schedule with three games apiece on the road and at home, including a pair of match ups with lowly New Orleans.
