Texas A&M Vs. Rice Final Score: Owls Win A Comeback 5-4

Stay connected for news and updates

No. 7 Rice took a 1-0 lead but had to play most of Tuesday's game against No. 2 Texas A&M from behind, winning a comeback 5-4 in a rare midweek meeting between two Top 10 teams.

A&M scored four runs on no outs in the bottom of the first inning off Rice's Jordan Stephens - senior designated hitter Matt Juengel and Chance Bolcerek both had RBIs. Rice would score a single run in the second and then fourth innings to cut the Aggies' lead to 4-3. The Owls would tie the game in the eighth inning on a RBI sac fly from second baseman Christian Stringer, and score the winning run in the ninth inning with a RBI single from third basemen Shane Hoelscher.

A&M head coach Rob Childress was ejected in the top of the third inning after arguing over a Rice batter being awarded first base after being hit by a pitch.
