A disappointing end to the season finished on a high note as the Rockets rallied for a 84-77 win over the New Orleans Hornets.
Houston trailed 71-63 entering the fourth quarter, but the Rockets outscored the Hornets 21-6 in the final quarter of the season for both teams. Chase Budinger got the start and led the Rockets with 27 points on 10-for-18 shooting. Samuel Dalembert recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Houston won despite shooting 35.2 percent (32-for-91) from the field, including 9-for-28 from three-point range. The Hornets were led by 13 points from three different players and shot 39.7 percent (27-for-68) from the floor. They appeared to be in control of the game before a terrible shooting slump to finish the game.
The Rockets seemed to be safely in the playoffs a few weeks ago, but finished the season losing seven of nine games and fell just short.
