Rice is cruising to the postseason before next week's C-USA showdown with UCF, but UAB has proven to be a difficult out for the Owls in reason seasons.

The Rice Owls (33-13, 13-5 CUSA) are exactly where they want to be with two series left in the regular season - safely in contention to host a NCAA Regional in the first round, at Top-8 ranked team in all five major college baseball polls, and tracking a C-USA regular season title.

That being said, UAB has proven to be a tricky out for the Owls in recent games. Since 2008, the Blazers have won seven out of 12 games, including the last three meetings in a row. Rice should have no problem handling the 27-23 Blazers, but are tied for first place in the conference with UCF, next week's opponent, and need every conference win possible.
