Rice Baseball: Owls Ranked 5th For Another Week

Stay connected for news and updates

The Baseball America Top 25 is out, and the Owls remained at #5 after taking 2 of 3 from UAB over the weekend.

Florida State retains the top spot and South Carolina was bumped to #2, but Rice was leapfrogged by Florida and Kentucky after wins over Mississippi State and Alabama, respectively.

The Owls won 12-2 and 8-6 on Saturday after rain delayed Game 1, and lost 6-5 in 12 innings in Sunday's finale. Losing Sunday certainly hurt their chances to advance a spot or two in the rankings, but three teams from the SEC in the Top 5 should tell Owl fans a lot about how Baseball America views SEC vs C-USA competition.

They enter the week at 36-14 overall and 15-6 in Conference USA. They travel to Sam Houston State on Tuesday and finish the regular season at fellow C-USA #1 UCF this weekend in a series that will determine the regular season conference champion.
