2012 C-USA Baseball Tournament: Houston Faces Memphis In Meaningless Game

Stay connected for news and updates

The Conference USA baseball tournament continues pool play on Friday with three games. The big surprise of the tournament is that No. 5 seeded Memphis upset No. 1 seeded Rice 3-2, and has already clinched a berth to the championship game. If Memphis can get past No. 8 seeded Houston on Friday afternoon then they will finish pool play with a 3-0 record.

No. 2 seeded Central Florida is also in danger of following in Rice's footsteps of not making the championship game. UAB crushed Central Florida 15-1 in the first game of the tournament, and if Central Florida falls to East Carolina then they would be eliminated from playing in the championship game.

2012 C-USA tournament standings:

Pod 1:

Memphis 2-0
Rice 1-1
Southern Miss 1-1
Houston 0-2

Pod 2:

Tulane 1-0
UAB 1-0
Central Florida 0-1
East Carolina 0-1

Friday's Conference USA schedule (all times central):

• Game 7 No. 7 UAB vs. No. 3 Tulane 11:00 a.m.
• Game 8 No. 6 East Carolina vs. No. 2 Central Florida 3:00 p.m.
• Game 9 No. 8 Houston vs. No. 5 Memphis 7:00 p.m.
