2013 Texas A&M Football Recruiting: Aggies Land DE Jordan Points

Defensive end Jordan Points became the latest player to verbally commit to play at Texas A&M. Points comes from Rockwall (Texas) Rockwall-Heath and is rated as a three-star recruit and is a giant of a player as he listed at 6-fett-5-inches and 255 pounds. He also will join his high school teammat Jay Arnold at Texas A&M.

Points chose Texas A&M over offers he had from North Texas, SMU, Syracuse and Tulsa. The commitment to go to Texas A&M happened quickly as Points received an offer from head coach Kevin Sumlin in the evening and verbally committed the next day.

Here is a scouting report from SB Nation's Texas recruiting expert Wescot Eberts:

Classified as a strongside defensive end, Points has the frame to eventually slide inside situationally as a pass rusher or even grow into a three-tech defensive tackle, where Points often plays for his high school. At times, he can shoot gaps to penetrate into the offensive backfield, but prefers to use a bullrush inside. When lined up as a defensive end, Points lacks a strong first step, but has an effective pass-rushing move in which he attacks the body of the offensive lineman, then hits and sheds with a bit of a swim move to take the edge.

Points is the 17th recruit in what is looking like a loaded class for Texas A&M.
