2012 NCAA Baseball Super Regionals: LSU Falls To Stony Brook 7-2, Eliminated From Poststeason

The LSU Tigers were eliminated from the 2012 NCAA tournament by Stony Brook 7-2 on Sunday night. This was a series that LSU was expected to win, but in the third game of this series their bats fell flat. Stony Brook starting pitcher Frankie Vanderka pitched a complete game, struck out five, allowed only three hits and gave only two runs.

As for LSU, their starting pitcher did not fair all that well as Ryan Eades lasted only 2.2 innings and gave up seven hits, four earned runs and walked four batters. Relievers Joe Broussard and Chris Cotton allowed the other three runs.

Stony Brook was led offensively by Maxx Tissenbaum, who had a two-run double and three RBI overall. Kevin Krause added two RBI and Travis Jankowski picked up four hits and scored twice.

LSU's offense came on a solo home run by Mason Katz in the first inning and then Austin Nola knocked in a run on a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning, but that is all the offense LSU could muster up.
