NBA Las Vegas Summer League 2012: Rookies Impress So Far

While the three first round picks the Houston Rockets made in the 2012 draft -- UConn SG Jeremy Lamb, Iowa State PF Royce White and Kentucky PF Terrence Jones -- have mostly been discussed in terms of their potential value in a deal for Dwight Howard, all three are impressive prospects in their own right.

The Rockets summer league team, which is now 4-1, has been one of the impressive squad in Las Vegas. All three rookies made Zach Lowe of SI.com's list of early summer standouts:

White has created as much buzz as anyone, a credit to his intoxicating passing game from the power forward slot. And it's addictive. White tossed multiple no-look, underhanded scoop passes at least 20 feet on Houston fast breaks, most of which led to scores or decent looks. White's passes are productive, and he will enter the league as an elite passing power forward. He can pass from the high or low post, as well as on the move in pick-and-rolls. He sees both simple and complicated passes all over the floor.

He had nice things to say about Lamb, an NBA-ready scorer, and Jones, an intriguing combo forward, as well.

NBA Las Vegas Summer League 2012: Rockets Face Chicago Bulls

The Houston Rockets summer league team, stacked with first round picks, tries to move their record to 4-1 when they face the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday afternoon.

Houston, which has three players averaging over 16+ points a game in Las Vegas, will face an old Rocket, Jermaine Taylor, who is trying to work his way back into the NBA.

Taylor should provide a good test for Jeremy Lamb at the SG position, while Georgetown rookie Henry Sims has the size and footspeed at 6'10 245 to give Donatas Motiejunas a good matchup.

Houston's trio of promising young combo forwards -- Royce White, Terrence Jones and Marcus Morris -- should overwhelm the Bulls down low, although veteran Leon Powe will give whoever is defending him a taste of NBA physicality in the paint.

Chicago will run most of their offense through their first-round pick, Marquise Teague of Kentucky.
