Astros Vs. Diamondbacks Final Score: Arizona Completes Sweep, Defeats Houston 8-2

The Houston Astros have once again been swept as they lost three straight to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Sunday's finale saw the Diamondbacks defeat the Astros 8-2. The loss for the Astros was their sixth straight and 19 of their last 21.

In Sunday's game Astros starting pitcher Jordan Lyles was on the mound for all eight of their runs with five being earned. The damage came in the bottom of the sixth inning where the Diamondbacks scored seven of their eight runs.

Heading into the bottom of the sixth inning the Astros actually were leading 2-1, and the Diamondbacks scored two runs when Miguel Montero grounded into a fielders choice. These runs were not earned by Lyles as the two runs came across the plate due to a throwing error by Astros shortstop Mawin Gonzalez.

Lyles proceeded to allow a three-run home run by Chris Young and then later on allowed a two-RBI single to Gerardo Parra which put the Diamondbacks up 8-2. The Astros never had a chance to get back in this game as they only managed two hits from the seventh through ninth innings.

Astros Vs. Diamondbacks Preview: Jordan Lyles, Just Enjoy Being In The Show Brother

The Houston Astros have the worst record in baseball and have lost eighteen of their last twenty. They're sellers once again at the trade deadline and have a fan base that remembers the time when they were consistent winners. No one knows where the team is headed, not even the players.

Right-hander Jordan Lyles probably doesn't care about any of that. The man is young, the man just made his debut with the big league club just two months ago, and is probably just soaking it all in. When he steps onto the mound in Chase Field for the finale of a three-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks, he's just throwing the pill and enjoying the show.

That's all it can be about for these Astros right now. Remember the good times of it all, remembering that they play the game for fun, and remembering that the season can only get better.

Astros Vs. Diamdonbacks Final Score: Houston's Offense Can't Keep Pace As Arizona Wins 12-3

The Arizona Diamondbacks beat up Astros starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel for seven runs -- six earned -- in only 3.1 innings of work. Keuchel also gave up a pair of two home runs to Jason Kubel which accounted for five runs. Kubel was the driving force in the Diamonbacks win as he went 3-for-5, three home runs and had six RBI's.

Fernando Rodriguez came in and relieved Keuchel, but he did not fare much better as he allowed two runs in just over an innings worth of work. After four innings the Astros were down 7-1 and they unable to make a dent into that Diamondbacks lead.

Diamondbacks starting pitcher Wade Miley held the Astros offense in check by allowing only one run and four hits in seven innings, plus he struck out out a career-high nine batters.

This loss for the Astros was their fifth straight and 18 out of their last 20.

Astros Move Newly Acquired Francisco Cordero To Closer Role

With the Houston Astros trading away closer Brett Myers to the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, they needed to find a new closer. According to the Houston Chronicle's Zachary Levine, the Astros are promoting Francisco Cordero to the closers roll.

Cordero will have to replace Myers who was pitching well in the closers well as he converted 19 of his 20 save chances, a 3.52 ERA and 32 strike outs in 30.2 innings pitch.

The Astros acquired Cordero from the Toronto Blue Jays, and he has only pitched one time for the Astros which happened to be in Friday's loss against the Arizona Diamondbacks. So far this season, Cordero has a 3-5 record, two saves, a 5.60 ERA, 26 strikeouts in 35.1 innings pitched.
