When the swimming events kick off at the 2012 Summer Games in London, there will be a Houston native looking to bring home the gold for the United States. Cammile Adams was born in Houston and is a proud member of the Texas A&M Aggies. She'll look to take the top spot in the 200-meter butterfly event.
Fly swimming is Adams' specialty. She won the U.S. Olympic trials in June and will be heading to her first Olympics as a result. In her 2011-12 sophomore year at A&M, she was named Big 12 Swimmer of the Week and picked up a pair of titles at the Big 12 Championships.
The United States swim team, of course, will be the focus of much attention. Team USA is usually a dominant force in swimming at the Summer Games and this year figures to be no different. Michael Phelps will be back to add to his gold medal total, but this time he'll be dealing with rising star and teammate Ryan Lochte.
