Houston Astros Moves: Chuckie Fick Claimed Off Waivers, 40-Man Roster Now Full

Stay connected for news and updates

It's being reported that the Houston Astros have claimed right-handed pitcher Chuckie Fick off of waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals, which fills Houston's 40-man roster. This was originally reported by Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com, and later by other outlets.

Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow selected Fick in the 15th round of the amateur draft in 2007, back when he was the Cardinals' VP of scouting and player development. So there's obviously a relationship there and the pickup makes sense considering this.

The 26-year-old Fick spent most of the season at Triple-A, where he recorded a 4.68 ERA with 4.3 K/9 and 2.8 BB/9 in 42 1/3 innings. He appeared in just two games for the Cardinals before they removed him from their roster.
