2012 Olympics Medal Count: Women's Team Gymnastics Gold Has U.S. Gaining Ground On China

The United States and China continue to be locked in fierce competition for total medal count at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Now the U.S. is starting to make a dent in China's gold medal lead as well.

After the U.S. took home the gold in the women's team gymnastics on Tuesday and China failed to medal in the event, the two countries are once again tied in total medals with 19 each. The United States now has seven gold medals against 10 for China, including another gold medal in shooting that the U.S. picked up on Tuesday.

In third place for total medals is Japan with 12, while France is fourth in total medals with nine and third in gold medals with four.
