Roger Federer Wins 7th Wimbledon Title, Tops Andy Murray In Four Sets

It seems like the storybook ending was going to occur for Andy Murray. Murray had jumped out to an early lead on Roger Federer by winning the first set of the WImbledon Final, the British crowd began to sense that something magical was going to happen. Could Murray be the one to win it on hometown soil?

Of course not.

Federer flipped the switch, overcame a rain delay, and began the journey towards Wimbledon title number seven.

Federer swiftly took care of business in the second set to beat Murray 7-5. The rain began to pour down after the first game in the third and the game came to a halt. Wimbledon officials made the decision to close the center-court roof and invoked a rain delay. Once play resumed, Federer took care of business to win the third set 6-3 and was one set away from another Wimbledon title.

In the fourth set, both players traded game winners throughout the set, but Federer stayed one step ahead of Murray and with crafty play and playing mistake-free tennis was able to gain the advantage. Federer stood tall versus the hometown crowd favoring Murray, and with a 6-4 set win he now owns the record for most Wimbledon titles in Tennis history with seven.
