2012 London Olympics Medal Count: United States Finishes On Top

The 2012 Olympics are coming to an end and the United States are coming out on top in the final medal count. After going back and forth through the early days of the Olympics, the United States pulled away from China at the end with 104 total medals including 46 Gold.

China finished second with 87 total medals and 38 golds while Russia made a late charge but fell just short with 82 total and 24 gold. Great Britain and Germany round out the top five at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Here is a the final top five in the medal count:

1. United States, 104 (46 Gold, 29 Silver, 29 Bronze)
2. China, 87 (38, 27, 22)
3. Russia, 82 (24, 25, 33)
4. Great Britain, 65 (29, 17, 19)
5. Germany, 44 (11, 19, 14)
