Stay connected for news and updates

The Houston Astros failed to complete the sweep but still come away with a series victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. Yovani Gallardo struck out eight and the Brewers held off Houston by a score of 5-3 on Sunday.

The Astros took an early 1-0 lead against Gallardo with a Marwin Gonzalez RBI double but couldn't hold it as the Brewers quickly bounced back with a run in the second and two in the fifth. Cory Hart's homer in the sixth made the score 5-2. The Astros would scratch one more run across in the eighth on a Scott Moore RBI single but they would get no closer.

Jordan Lyles falls to 2-9 while allowing eight hits and two earned runs over seven innings of work. Gallardo picks up his 11th win of the season for Milwaukee and Kameron Loe earns his first save with a scoreless ninth.

Gonzalez, Tyler Greene and Chris Snyder each finished with two hits for Houston. Hart's homer in the sixth off of Lyles was his 22nd of the season.
