Astros OF Steve Pearce Reportedly Targeted By Giants

Houston Astros outfielder Steve Pearce is drawing interest from the San Francisco Giants, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.

Pearce would have to clear waivers in order for the Giants to acquire him, and it is not yet known whether or not that is the case. He has been a member of the Astros since July 28, when he was claimed off of waivers from the Baltimore Orioles after being designated for assignment a week earlier. Since joining Houston, Pearce is hitting .258/.351/.355 in 74 plate appearances. Overall, he has posted a .734 OPS and three homers in 2012.

In six big league seasons, Pearce is a career .237 hitter. 2012 has probably been the best season of them all, when taking into consideration the number of plate appearances relative to his production.
