College Football Rankings: LSU Still In The Top 3 Of Both Major Polls

Stay connected for news and updates

As arbitrary as the two major college football polls are in September, LSU fans are no doubt watching their Tigers keenly, as the Associated Press seems to still think the Bayou Bengals are the nation's third best team, while the USA Today Coaches Poll changed its mind after LSU dismantled Washington, bumping them over USC.

The Tigers finished second in the USA Today Coaches Poll with five first-place votes. Four teams total received first-place votes, including No. 1 Alabama (42), No. 3 USC (11) and No. 4 Oregon (1). Meanwhile, the Tide has a stronger lock atop the AP, with 48 of a possible 60 first place votes. The Tigers are No. 3 with four first-place votes.

And hey! - even though they lost their much ballyhooed debut as a member of the SEC, Texas A&M entered the "others receiving votes" section of the USA Today Poll with a single vote. Congrats, Aggies!
