Astros Pitcher Mickey Storey Struck In The Face By Line Drive (Video)

Houston Astros rookie pitcher Mickey Storey was struck in the face by a come-back line drive Wednesday night off the bat of the Chicago Cubs' Dave Sappelt. The good news: Zachary Levine of the Houston Chronicle tweeted later Wednesday evening that Storey was "totally fine" and "wants back on the mound ASAP."

The accident occurred in the top of the eighth inning of the Astros' 5-1 loss. Storey attempted to field or knock down the ball off Seppelt's bat, but he couldn't react in time to stop the ball from striking his face. Storey exited the game after trainers tended to him for several minutes on the field.

It's always amazing to think about how this doesn't happen more often in baseball, but the play was strikingly similar to last week's liner that left Oakland Athletics starter Brandon McCarthy with a fractured skull.
