Rice Vs. Louisiana Tech 2012: Unable To Recover, Owls Fall 56-37 To Bulldogs

After falling behind 21-0 in the first quarter, the Rice Owls were unable to recover in the second quarter and beyond against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, falling by the score of 56-37 at Joe Aillet Stadium.

The Owls defense was unable to get stops early to help out their sluggish offense, instead allowing the Bulldogs to score touchdowns in their first three offensive drives. The Owls offense woke up in the second quarter, as Taylor McHargue and Charles Ross were each responsible for a touchdown in the quarter.

The Owls defense tried to make up for their rough start in the second half, allowing just 21 points in the second half as opposed to the 21 in the first quarter alone. Unfortunately, the Owls offense was unable to trim the lead any further in the second half.

Running back Charles Ross starred for the Owls and did everything he could. The junior running back took 14 carries for 116 yards, but was unable to find the end zone.

Now 1-2 on the season, the Owls will host Marshall next Saturday, Sept. 22 at Rice Stadium in an effort to even up their record at 2-2.
