2012 Deutsche Bank Championship: Rory McIlroy Claims Victory At TPC Boston

Stay connected for news and updates

Rory McIlroy fought off Louis Oosthuizen down to the last strokes for a win at the 2012 Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC Boston. After missing a birdie putt on the 18th hole by merely one centimeter that would have clinched the win, McIlroy watched as Oosthuizen missed his birdie opportunity wide as well, missing the shot at a playoff.

Oosthuizen (-19) gave up his three-shot lead to start the round, and McIlroy (-20) found the top of the leaderboard with five birdies on the front nine.

Tiger Woods shot a five-under 66 on Monday's round to finish at 18-under, good for third place and only two shots behind the winner, McIlroy. Phil Mickelson also shot a 66 to move him up to a tie for fourth with Dustin Johnson at 14-under. The rest of the top 10 included Brandt Snedeker (-13), Adam Scott (-12), Jeff Overton (-12), Bryce Molder (-11), Kevin Stadler (-10), and Ryan Moore (-10).

Texas native Bob Estes finished by shooting a 69 and finished tied for 42nd place at two-under on the tournament.
