Linsanity: President Obama Calls Mitt Romney Jeremy Lin, Himself The Miami Heat

Stay connected for news and updates

President Barack Obama hasn't tried too hard to hide his love for the game of basketball, sitting courtside at some games and annually filling out his NCAA Tournament bracket on ESPN.

In the middle of a re-election campaign against Republican nominee Mitt Romney, Obama used a basketball metaphor to describe his presidential race against Romney. Via the New York Times:

"We're the Miami Heat, and he's Jeremy Lin," Mr. Obama said, according to the aide.

Lin, now a member of the Houston Rockets, took the league by storm in early 2012 as a member of the New York Knicks, sparking a winning streak for the team. However, an injury derailed his season and the Knicks were bounced from the playoffs early while the Miami Heat won the NBA Finals.
