Doug Meacham leaves the seventh-ranked passing attack for the 11th in going from Oklahoma State to Houston.

The Houston Cougars will hire current Oklahoma St. assistant coach Doug Meacham as their new offensive coordinator, according to a tweet from CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman. It was originally reported by the Houston Chronicle.

Meacham served as inside receivers coach and passing game coordinator for the past eight seasons at Oklahoma State. He last served as an offensive coordinator at Samford from 2002 to 2004 following stints at Jacksonville State and Georgia Military.

Oklahoma State ranked third nationally in points per game (45.7), seventh in passing yards (331.7) and 22nd in rushing yards (215.3) during an 8-5 campaign that ended in a 58-14 shellacking of Purdue in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. The Cougars were 11th in passing yards (328.4), 72nd in rushing (151.2) and 38th in points per game (32.4), finishing 5-7 this season.

Meacham won't have to start from scratch, but will have his work cut out for him to get Houston's offense at the level the Cowboys played at this season.

North Dakota State's offense took over in the second half and Sam Houston State's offense couldn't keep up.

After a close first half, the Sam Houston St. Bearkats could no longer keep up with the North Dakota St. Bison and fell 39-13 in the NCAA Division I Football Championship game on Saturday.

With the score tied at 10-10 heading into the second half, the Bison outscored the Bearkats, 29-3, in the second half to blow the game wide-open. Bison quarterback Brock Jensen and running back Sam Ojuri each scored two rushing touchdowns in the second half as the Bison ended the game with 300 rushing yards on 45 carries and five touchdowns between five rushers. Ojuri led the way with 14 carries, 92 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bearkats offense halted in the second half, only getting 2.8 yards per carry for the game, and their passing game produced 275 yards but four interceptions, including 255 yards and three interceptions by QB Brian Bell.

This was the second straight year the Bearkats lost in the title game.

Sam Houston State and North Dakota State are in a dogfight for the FCS championship.

In what has mostly been a defensive struggle for both teams, the Sam Houston St. Bearkats and the North Dakota St. Bison are in a dogfight for the NCAA Division I Football Championship as they're tied at 10-10 at the half.

The Bison led 3-0 after the first quarter before the Bearkats tied it early in the second quarter. The Bearkats were able to at least put some yards up but the Bison were struggling to get anything going, leading to 12 first downs by the Bearkats to seven for the Bison.

The Bison were able to put together a 5-play, 72-yard drive, capped off by a 20-yard touchdown run by Brock Jensen with 3:09 left in the half. After an interception that would have ended a late Bearkats drive was called back for holding, Bearkats quarterback Brian Bell connected on a 30-yard pass to Richard Sincere before tossing a 1-yard touchdown pass to K.J. Williams to tie the game.

Bell is trying to do all he can with 160 yards passing with one touchdown, one interception and is also the team's leading rusher. The Bison are doing it mostly with their running game as they've combined for 134 yards on 15 carries and one touchdown among five ball-carriers.

Rice is first on the board, but now trail Air Force after one half of play.

The Rice Owls trail the Air Force Falcons, 14-7, at halftime of the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Owls got on the board first with a Taylor McHargue 16-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Taylor with less than five minutes remaining in the first quarter. But the Falcons have answered with 14 straight points to take the lead heading into the half.

The Falcons scored less than four minutes apart toward the end of the second quarter on a Kale Pearson 9-yard touchdown run and a Wes Cobb 1-yard touchdown run. Rice had a chance to tie the game late in the second quarter, but Driphus Jackson fumbled at the 5-yard line to end the drive.

The Falcons are dominating statistically, primarily behind their running game, which has already put up 141 yards on 34 carries as nine different players have contributed to the total. This isn't a game for anyone interested in watching passing as McHargue (31 yards on 6-for-8 passing) and Pearson (15 yards on 1-for-1 passing) don't really contribute to their teams in that regard.

Rice has not helped itself with three lost fumbles and the Falcons have one lost fumble as well.

Both teams come in at 6-6 on the season and are looking to prevent losing seasons with a win.

The Rockets let the Knicks know that Lin is in good hands by shellacking New York in Houston.

There were no games on Thanksgiving, but the NBA was back at it with 12 games on Friday, including Jeremy Lin's first game against his former team, the New York Knicks.

Lin's teammates had his back as the Rockets blew out the Knicks, 131-103, behind 33 points from James Harden and 31 points from Chandler Parsons. Carmelo Anthony scored a season-high 37 points for the Knicks in the loss.

Lin scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 35 minutes of play.

The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Indiana Pacers, 104-97, behind 33 points and 10 assists from Tony Parker. Tim Duncan added 22 points and 17 rebounds for the Spurs, improving their record to 10-3. The Pacers were led by David West's 22 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

The Memphis Grizzlies beat the Los Angeles Lakers, 106-98, and reclaimed the best record in the league at 9-2. The Grizzlies had five players in double-figures led by Rudy Gay's 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Zach Randolph added 17 points and 12 rebounds. The Lakers were led by Kobe Bryant's 30 points but he shot only 7-for-23 from the field.

The New Orleans Hornets fell to the Phoenix Suns, 111-108, in overtime. The Hornets were led by Ryan Anderson's 34 points and 11 rebounds and Greivis Vasquez's 25 points and 14 assists in the loss. Anderson hit eight out of 13 three-point attempts. The Suns were led by Markieff Morris' 23 points and Goran Dragic's 20 points and eight assists.

Darryl Sharpton returns at a time when the Houston Texans were down to only two healthy linebackers on the roster.

It's been a long road but inside linebacker Darryl Sharpton will finally make his return to the Houston Texans on Sunday after nearly 55 weeks out of commission.

Sharpton tore his right quadriceps muscle against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 30, 2011 and will make his return against those very same Jaguars on Sunday after being activated by the Texans from their physically unable to perform list. To make room for Sharpton, the Texas waived safety Troy Nolan.

Sharpton first practiced two weeks ago and due to his placement on the PUP list was not eligible to play until after week six. Though his quadriceps injury should have been healed and ready by the preseason, Sharpton had a setback with a hip injury early in training camp. But now he is ready to go for a Texans team that needs depth at linebacker with Brian Cushing out and Tim Dobbins questionable for Sunday's game, leaving Bradie James and Barrett Ruud as the only healthy linebackers.

The Texas A&M Aggies have gone into Tuscalossa, Al. to face the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide and have come away with a 20-0 lead after the first quarter in front of a stunned Crimson Tide crowd.

Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel has proven to be quite the problem for Alabama's defense where he is both a threat to run and pass the ball. Manziel already has 76 yards on 10-for-11 passing and one touchdown as well as five carries for 74 yards rushing. The Aggies have had the ball for 10:29 compared to the Crimson Tide's 4:21 which has aided in the Aggies holding the Crimson Tide's offense to a total of 34 yards.

Christine Michael has two rushing touchdowns and Manziel has one passing touchdown for the Aggies.

After the Crimson Tide barely escaped the LSU Tigers last week, the Aggies apparently smell blood as the invincibility cloak that has surrounded the Crimson Tide all season seems to be losing its strength.

The Texas A&M Aggies went to Starkville and rolled over Mississippi State for an impressive SEC road win.

The Texas A&M Aggies went into Starkville, Miss. and put on a show as they defeated the 15th-ranked Mississippi St. Bulldogs, 38-13, in their SEC contest on Saturday.

The No. 16 Aggies dominated from start to finish, built a 24-0 lead at halftime and were never threatened by a Bulldogs team that couldn't do anything to stop the Aggies' offense, led by quarterback Johnny Manziel.

Manziel was spectacular with 311 yards passing and 129 yards rushing with two rushing touchdowns. Running back Ben Malena added 112 yards rushing and one touchdown on 17 carries and Christine Michael added two rushing touchdowns of his own. In all, the Aggies finished with 353 yards rushing and five touchdowns.

The win moves the Aggies to 7-2 overall, 4-2 in the SEC and drops the Bulldogs to 7-2, 3-2 in the SEC. The Aggies have now won 10 straight road games dating back to last season when they were still in the Big 12.

Box Score Hero: How could it not be Manziel? The Aggies' quarterback finished with 311 yards on 30-of-36 passing plus 125 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 21 carries.

Rankings Ramifications: The Bulldogs are in danger of falling to the bottom (or out of) the rankings after losing two straight to ranked teams following an undefeated start to the season. Meanwhile, the Aggies should move up a spot or two depending on what happens around them.

Did They Cover?: The Aggies more than proved that their 7-point favorite status was merited by obliterating the cover.

But Manziel is still dominating the game with 238 yards on 25-for-31 passing and 120 yards rushing and a touchdown on 18 carries.

The Aggies got the ball back on an interception by De'Vante Harris late in the third quarter that halted another Bulldogs drive.

The Aggies' defense has limited the Bulldogs to just 87 total yards. The Bulldogs came into the game averaging 33 points per game and only giving up 17.4. The Aggies have completely flipped the script on the Bulldogs as their crowd is in shock at the away team's early dominance.
