Spring Training 2012: Former Astros Pitcher Andy Pettitte Un-Retires

Yeah, I realize most people won't think of Andy Pettitte as an Astro first. They'll think of him as a Yankee, which is probably why he chose to un-retire to join said New York Bombers.

Petttitte sat out all of last season and now will have to work his way back through the minor leagues before he makes a big league appearance. If he does make the majors, Pettitte can earn up to $2.5 million, which is a lot of money, but the kind of change the Yankees spend on middle relievers. If they can get a starter for that cheap? That's a steal.

↵

There's also an outside shot that Pettitte could get to 250 victories this season. At 39, his durability will be a question, but I wonder if that magic round number might bump his Hall of Fame credentials up a little more. Pettitte has won at least 10 games in every season he's been in the majors, with the exception of 2004, when he missed a big chunk of time with an elbow injury in his first season in Houston.

↵

I'd like to see the big Deer Park guy end up in the Hall, even if it'll be wearing a Yankees uniform.
