It was a welcomed sight to see for almost everyone involved with the Houston Astros. Jed Lowrie was finally activated on Friday after spending time on the disabled list due to a jammed thumb. Lowrie took over the starting shortstop role from rookie Marwin Gonzalez, and in his first game Lowrie was 2-for-3 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base to go with two walks.
Impressive indeed in the 5-4 loss to the Miami Marlins on Friday. Lowrie's jammed thumb was obviously a point of frustration for the shortstop, but now that he's able to play he feels like its time to move on.
"I'm actually really happy it went really quick considering how swollen and how bad my thumb looked at the beginning," Lowrie said. "I think it was a fairly quick process. Fifteen days seems like an eternity in baseball, but when you're dealing with an injury like that, I'm happy with how quick it went."
If you don't own him in fantasy baseball and you need a shortstop, you could do a lot worse than Lowrie, Give him a look.
