Jose Altuve suffered a strained hamstring while running to first base in the Astros' win against the Cleveland Indians on Sunday. That's why he wasn't in the lineup against the Padres on Monday in the teams' series opener, in which Brian Bixler filled in respectably.
But it looks like Altuve's injury isn't that serious, and he will return to the lineup soon. He said it could be a couple of days, which means he might sit out the rest of the Padres series, which ends Thursday, or he could play in the finale. Either way, doesn't seem to be too much to worry about when it comes to the fan favorite Altuve.
Brad Mills said the team simply wants to be cautious with Altuve, who was able to take batting practice and ground balls on Monday.
