2012 MLB Draft Results: Houston Astros Day Three Picks

Though the Houston Astros won't have a shocking pick on day three of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft akin to their first overall selection, they still could wind up finding some solid talent in rounds 16-40 of the draft, as Jeff Luhnow finishes up his first draft as general manager of the Astros.

Here's a look at who the Astros have drafted so far on day three of the draft:

  • Dan Gulbransen, OF, Jacksonville, FL
  • Aaron West, RHP, Washington
  • Richard Gingrass, C, Palm Desert, CA
  • Austin Elkins, 2B, Dallas Baptist, TX
  • Ryan Clark, LHP, Kent State, OH
  • Marc Wik, OF, Chabot JC, CA
  • Kenny Long, LHP, Illinois State
  • Travis Ballew, RHP, Texas State
  • Patrick Blair, SS, Wake Forest, NC
  • CJ Hinojosa, SS, Klein Collins Spring HS, TX
  • Tanner Mathis, OF, Mississippi
  • Angel Ibanez, 3B, Texas-Pan American
  • Christian Garcia, RHP, Florence-Darlington Tech JC, SC
  • John Neely, RHP, Texas Tech
  • M.P. Cokinos, C, St. Mary's, TX
  • Tyler Manez, LHP, Plainedge, NY
  • Mike Hauschild, RHP, Dayton, OH
  • Jordan Jankowski, RHP, Catawba, NC
  • James Sinatro
  • Mike Martinez, 3B, Florida International
Only one player so far on day three of Houston's draft hails from high school, so the Astros should be signing a fair number of these prospects. Hopefully for the Astros and Luhnow, they develop nicely as the Astros prepare to move to the American League next year.
