The Astros have decided to make a move to acquire young arms and have traded closer Brett Myers to the White Sox.

The Houston Astros are becoming sellers this trading season and have made a deal with the Chicago White Sox. The Astros are trading closer Brett Myers and cash to the the White Sox while the Astros would receiver minor league prospects right-hander Matt Heidenreich, left-hander Blair Walters and a player to be named later.

Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow feels that Heidenreich and Walters will be great additions for the Astros once they reach the Major Leagues:

"The pitchers we are receiving are talented, young prospects with big league upside," eLuhnow said. "They have had success in their young careers and we're excited to add them to the mix."

Heidenreich has pitched in Class A Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham this year and has a combined 9-4 record with a 3.95 ERA. He was a Carolina League All-Star and earned the league Pitcher of the Week award one time this season. He will be assigned to Double-A Corpus Christi.

Walters is 4-6 with a 3.96 ERA and has spent time at Class A Kannapolis and Class A Winston-Salem this season and will be placed at Class A Lancaster for the Astros.
