Astros Receive Kevin Comer To Complete J.A. Happ Trade With Blue Jays

The elusive player to be named later has been named now, and the Houston Astros are receiving RHP prospect Kevin Comer from the Toronto Blue Jays. Comer completes the ten-player swap that sent J.A. Happ, Brandon Lyon and David Carpenter to Toronto in exchange for right-hander Francisco Cordero, outfielder Ben Francisco, minor leaguers Joe Musgrove, Asher Wojciechowski, David Rollins and Carlos Perez, and now Comer.

Comer, a former second-round pick, was drafted as a hard thrower, but Keith Law says that his velocity is down to the upper-80s this season.

Blue Jays blogger Minor Leaguer over at Blue Bird Banter is less than thrilled with sending away Comer:

"I, along with many other commenters here, thought that the PTBNL would be some organizational depth guy or maybe a few thousand dollar bills. Losing Kevin Comer in that deal seems to make the price a little too steep to me."

So if Astros fans can take solace in anything these days, it's that they might have gotten more for Happ than originally announced.
