The Houston Astros wrapped up their three-game series in Atlanta with a 6-1 loss to the Braves on Sunday. The Astros have not won consecutive games in over a month.
The Braves jumped out to an early 1-0 on a solo home run by backup catcher David Ross. Houston tied the game in the sixth on a one out double by Justin Maxwell off of Atlanta reliever Corey Gearrin. However, the Braves answered back with three runs in the bottom half of the inning off of starter Bud Norris.
Norris lost for the eighth consecutive time and drops to 5-9 on the season after allowing seven hits and four runs in six innings of work. Jonny Venters picks up the win for the Braves while allowing a hit and retiring two batters. Venters got pinch hitter J.D. Martinez to ground out with the bases loaded in the sixth to get Atlanta out of a jam.
Brett Wallace and Jason Maxwell had two hits each for the Astros. Chipper Jones, Freddie Freeman and David Ross had two hits apiece for the Braves.

The Houston Astros are looking for consecutive wins for the first time in over a month as they wrap up their three-game set with the Braves in Atlanta. Houston's 3-2 win on Saturday was just the second win in the Astros' last 25 road games. Sunday's starter Bud Norris will be looking to snap a personal seven game losing streak when he takes the mound against the Braves.
Norris is 5-8 on the season with a 5.02 ERA but did leave his last start with the lead before the Astros bullpen faltered late. He will be opposed on the mound by Atlanta's Kris Medlen who is making his second start of the season for the Braves and is 2-1 with a 2.43 ERA.

Houston Astros centerfielder Justin Maxwell single handedly defeated the Atlanta Braves as he went 4-for-4 with a pair of home runs, three RBI's and two runs. Both home runs came off of Paul Maholm who was making his first start for the Atlanta Braves since being traded from the Chicago Cubs.
With the score 2-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, the Braves were able to tie the game at Dan Uggla hit a two-RBI single off of Lucas Harrell. Maxwell's second home run came in the following inning and proved to be the game winners.
Outside of the two-RBI single that Harrell allowed, he pitched well as he allowed only four total hits and struck out five to improve his record to 9-7.

The Astros bats were held in check by Atlanta Braves staring pitcher Tim Hudson who allowed four hits and no earned runs in 7.1 innings pitched. The 4-1 win for Hudson allowed him to stay undefeated at 5-0 against the Astros in his career. The only run for the Astros came in the sixth inning when J.D. Martinez grounded out to third base but he was able to knock in Ben Francisco.
Astros starting pitcher Armando Galarraga only lasted 5.1 innings and gave up all four runs, walked seven and four hits. This was Galarraga's second start of the season and he struggled in his five-plus innings of work where he through 112 pitches.
The loss for the Astros gave them a 3-29 record over their past 32 games, and this current losing stretch is the worst for the Astros in 50 years.
