The Houston Astros won, 7-0, in Milwaukee on Sunday, knocking the Brewers out of the wild card race.

The Houston Astros have long been out of playoff contention, but with a 7-0 win in Milwaukee on Sunday, Houston effectively played spoiler to the Brewers' Wild Card hopes. With the loss, the Brewers were eliminated from the race.

The Astros took advantage of a masterful pitching performance by Jordan Lyles (5-12, 5.09 ERA). Lyles threw a shutout, allowing just four hits and one walk. With the victory, he picked up his third win since the beginning of July. Before Sunday, he hadn't pitched more than seven innings this season.

Carlos Corporan led the Houston bats with two RBIs. Corporan drove in Matt Dominguez and Brian Bogusevic with a single in the top of the eighth. Dominguez, Jed Lowrie and Fernando Martinez hit solo home runs for the Astros.

Mike Fiers took the loss for the Brewers and gave up five runs on six hits in six innings. Fiers struck out 10.
