Houston starting quarterback is officially listed as day-to-day after suffering a concussion against SMU.

Houston Cougars starting quarterback David Piland left their Thursday night game against the SMU Mustangs with concussion-like symptoms. He never returned to the game on Thursday night, and on Friday a team spokesman announced that Piland is officially listed as day-to-day.

The next game for the Cougars is an Oct. 27 tilt where they host the UTEP Miners, and his status for that game is currently up in the air.

If Piland can not go on Friday, the quarterback position will then fall to either senior Crawford Jones or redshirt freshman Bram Kohlhausen, as both are listed as co-backups.

Judging by Thursday's game, it is likely that Jones will get the start if Piland can not suit up. He was the quarterback who came in to replace Piland once he was knocked out of the game.

Prior to the injury, Piland had thrown for 2,264 yards, 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
