Tulsa vs. Houston score update: Cougars trail 17-0 at halftime

Stay connected for news and updates

As the Houston Cougars look to keep their Conference USA West title hopes alive, the team will first need to climb back at home against the visiting Tulsa Golden Hurricane, who are leading by the score of 17-0 at halftime.

Despite having similar numbers in the box score, the Cougars are holding themselves back in this game with two turnovers and five penalties.

The Golden Hurricane, who are 5-0 in conference games, have taken more than 17 minutes off of the clock in the first half, keeping the Cougars offense on the sidelines. Tulsa scored their second touchdown of the game with an extensive, 17 play and 90 yard drive.

The Cougars defense has done a good job for the most part, but it's the terrible field position putting them in difficult situations. Houston has held Tulsa quarterback Cody Green to just 101 yards while forcing the quarterback into an interception.

However, Tulsa is moving the ball at will on the ground, picking up 120 yards of rushing in the first half with four different players getting involved in the ground game.
