The Houston Cougars look to rebound from a stunning this weekend when they play Louisiana Tech.

The Houston Cougars are in look-ahead mode following last weekend's stunning 30-13 upset at the hands of Texas State, and next on the slate is Louisiana Tech on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Cougars coach Tony Levine told the Houston Chronicle he will stick with quarterback David Piland for this week. Piland was shaky against Texas State in his first start since 2010, completing only 17 of his 44 pass attempts.

Levine also told the Chronicle that junior running back Charles Sims would see an increased load over his 14 touches from last week. Sims rushed 13 times for 77 yards and had one catch.

Sims and PIland will have to get going under their second offensive coordinator in as many games. The Texas State loss was so embarrassing that offensive coordinator Mike Nesbitt resigned Monday. Assistant Travis Bush is set to handle the play-calling duties for now.

It'll be the first game of the year for Louisiana Tech, which saw its scheduled opener with Texas A&M postponed until Oct. 13 due to the threat of Hurricane Isaac.
