The Houston Rockets captured their first win of the season with a 105-85 win over the San Antonio Spurs in their home opener. Houston outscored the Spurs 30-17 in the second quarter and made that lead hold up the rest of the way.
The Rockets used a solid offensive attack that saw them hit over 50 percent of their shots in the game and also come up with 13 offensive rebounds. Kevin Martin bounced back from a sub par season opener to score 25 points and hit 10-17 shots. Luis Scola chipped in 18 points, five boards and three assists. Point guard Kyle Lowry turned in a near triple-double finishing with 16 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.
DeJuan Blair scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Spurs who dropped their first game of the season. Tony Parker scored 12 points and Tiago Splitter chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Houston held the Spurs to 38 percent shooting who were just 2-17 from three-point-range in the game.
