So, the rumor mill is currently connecting the Houston Rockets in a three-way trade that would send Chris Paul to the Lakers and possibly move Pau Gasol to Houston.
↵This is exactly the kind of move Morey likes to make. Not only is he picking up an asset already under a long-term contract (Gasol is signed for three years for $57 million). It fixes Houston's problem in the middle and adds a legitimate superstar to the roster.
↵Gasol has averaged 18-10 over the past two seasons, but last year was the first time since his second season in the league that he played in 82 games. He's a bit of a risk, but would be the cornerstone piece Houston has lacked.
↵Yes, they'd give up Kevin Martin and Luis Scola, but have guys like Patrick Patterson to step in. Plus, there's word that Houston could go after DeAndre Jordan or Nene to make a very solid front court.
↵If the Rockets can make this deal without giving up Budinger, Patterson, Lowery or Marcus Morris, it's a slam dunk.
