SLAM Online, one of basketball's most reputable publications, has recently ranked the NBA's best players. Our very own Houston Rocket, Kevin Martin, cracked the list at number 45.
It's well documented that Martin struggles on the defensive end, but he's the epitome of offensive scoring efficiency. He averaged 23.4 PPG last season while shooting almost forty-four percent from the field. Adam Sweeney couldn't have written it any better for SLAM:
Martin played last season without another star by his side and helped carry the load. He also threw a figurative middle finger in the air to critics who call him fragile by playing 80 games.
Daryl Morey has always been fond of collecting "assets" and garnering lots of praise for his organizational philosophy. I'm a big fan of his, and I think he will bring this city a championship in the next several years.
Enough about my Morey tangent, I feel that we are lucky to have Kevin Martin on the Rockets. He's very smoothly offensively and one of the quickest players in the league. Check the stats too:
For statheads ready to argue that Martin doesn’t put up big enough numbers, check again:
#9 in points per game
#2 in points per 48 minutes
#1 in free-throws made
#8 in free-throw percentage
Congrats Kevin, you deserve it.
