Houston Rockets Finalize Deal With Greg Smith

The Houston Rockets signed Greg Smith to a three-year deal out of the NBA D-League's Rio Grande Valley Vipers earlier this week. Smith takes the vacated roster spot of fellow D-League alum Jeff Adrien.

Feb 9, 2012 - The Houston Rockets finalized a three-year deal with center Greg Smith formerly a standout with the NBA D-League's Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Smith is a 6-foot-10 center out of Fresno State that was averaging 16.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game with the Vipers. Smith's deal is for three-years but only the remainder of this season is guaranteed.

The Rockets officially signed Smith to a three-year contract on Wednesday, and the deal is guaranteed for the remainder of the season and worth the pro-rated portion of the rookie minimum, $480,000. It is partially guaranteed next season and at the team's option in the third season.

Smith was selected to play in the NBA D-League All-Star game on Wednesday and the Rockets returned the big man back to the D-League by assigning him once again to the Vipers.
