Texans Vs. Buccaneers Final Score: Matt Schaub Leads Houston To 37-9 Victory Over Tampa Bay

Matt Schaub threw for two touchdowns while helping the Houston Texans to a 37-9 victory over the Tamp Bay Buccaneers. The win was Houston's fourth in a row and maintains their lead over Tennessee in the AFC South division.

The Texans wasted little time in jumping out to an early lead as Schaub connected with Jacoby Jones for an 80 yard touchdown pass on the first play of the game. The Texans came back again early in the second when Schaub connected with running back Arian Foster for a 78 yard touchdown to extend the lead to 16-0 and the rout was on.

Tampa Bay's offense ws completely held in check with Josh Freeman struggling through a 170 yard, three interception effort. LeGarrette Blount was held to just 34 yards on 10 carries.

Foster had a big day in total yardage piling up 84 yards on the ground and 102 through the air. Foster scored two touchdowns on the day. Derrick Ward and Ben Tate each added rushing touchdowns for the Texans who piled up 185 yards on the ground as a team.

Texans Vs. Bucs Halftime Update: Houston Giving Tampa The Blues, Lead 16-3

Another week without the services of Andre Johnson hasn't slowed down the Houston Texans offense, as Matt Schaub has thrown for 222 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Texans to a 16-3 lead over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Raymond James Stadium.

The Texans, with the No. 2 rushing offense in the NFL, haven't head to lean on the rushing duo of Arian Foster and Ben Tate in Tampa thus far. The two tailbacks have put up just 52 yards on 14 carries. The passing attack got on track with an 80-yard pitch and catch from Schaub to Jacoby Jones, as Jones caught the ball in the middle of the field then eluded two tacklers to make his way to the endzone.

Schaub then found Arian Foster on a short pass, Foster then did the rest of the heavy lifting to get Schaub his second touchdown of the day.

The Bucs offense has struggled to find their rhythm, as LeGarrette Blount only has 14 yards rushing and Josh Freeman is 10-20 passing for 137 yards. Connor Barth put a field goal through the uprights at the end of the half to get the Bucs on the board.

Tampa Bay will receive the ball in the second half as they try to get back in this game.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are fairly healthy with no starters officially out for today's game against the Houston Texans. The Bucs are missing a few backups on the defensive side of the ball

Here is the complete inactive list for the Bucs:

• Wide reciever Michael Spurlock
• Tackle James Lee
• Guard Derek Hardman
• Defensive tackle Frank Okam
• Defensive end Tim Crowder
• Linebacker Dekoda Watson

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Injury Report, Week 10: Frank Okam Listed As Doubtful

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers come into the game against the Houston Texans relatively healthy. Defensive tackle Frank Okam is likely to miss the game, listed as doubtful with a calf injury, missing practice all week. Outside of the Okam injury, linebacker Dekoda Watson is listed as questionable with a groin injury, but should play against the Texans.

The Bucs listed five more players on the injury report, including tight end Kellen Winslow who missed time but it was not injury related. The following four players were all listed as probable for Sunday's match up and all are expected to play:

Josh Freeman (thumb), Mike Williams (thigh), Tanard Jackson (hamstring), and Jeremy Zuttah (knee).

The Bucs will be a bit light at the defensive tackle position, with Gerald McCoy going on injured reserve and now with Frank Okam likely to miss Sunday.

The big news however is that the Texans will be without wide receiver Andre Johnson once again. Also missing for the Texans will be safety Daniel Manning who is still dealing with an ankle injury.

Defensive end Antonio Smith is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury, missing two days of practice and was limited Friday. Right tackle Eric Winston was also listed as questionable, missing two days of practice and being limited on Friday. Both are expected to play on Sunday, however.

Andre Johnson Injury Update: All-Pro WR Out For Sunday's Game

While All-Pro WR Andre Johnson's recovery from a hamstring injury he suffered on Oct. 2 against Pittsburgh has gone according to the initial 6-8 week timetable, the Houston Texans training staff has decided to hold him out of Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

 John McClain
Gary Kubiak says andre Johnson will not play against Tampa bay.

With a bye week coming up, the team clearly wanted to take all possible precautions before putting him back out on the field. Now, he'll have a full eight weeks off if he returns for Houston's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Nov. 27.

In Johnson's absence, the Texans have become a more ground-oriented offense, and they should have success against Tampa Bay's rushing defense, which gives up 132.4 yards a game, 26th in the NFL.

If the Buccaneers stack the line of scrimmage, it would be a great chance for one of Houston's other wide-outs -- Kevin Walter, Jacoby Jones or the recently acquired Derrick Mason -- to make a play for QB Matt Schaub down the field.

Albert Haynesworth Claimed Off Waivers By Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The New England Patriots waived defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth earlier Wednesday morning and he was picked up off the waiver wire immediately by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Every player released after the NFL trade deadline hits waiver wire which means every team has a chance to claim the player, and the Bucs struck first, now Tampa Bay takes over Haynesworth's contract which runs through the 2012 season.

With the Bucs losing their 2010 first-round draft pick defensive tackle Gerald McCoy for the remainder of the season, along with suffering injuries to the tackle position in last week's contest versus the New Orleans Saints as Frank Okam also went down. Coming into Sunday's contest versus the Houston Texans, the Bucs were now extremely thin at tackle for Raheem Morris' 3-4 scheme.

The Bucs went out and signed John McCargo to a contract, and along with Haynesworth will look to get plenty of action for the rest of the season. Houston comes into the contest versus the Bucs with the second-best rushing attack in the NFL, averaging 155.1 yards/game.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Injury Report, Week 10: Mike Williams Unable To Practice

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers come into Sunday's contest versus the Houston Texans dealing with a slew of injuries, and while the Texans are dealing with their No. 1 wide receiver (Andre Johnson) being out of the lineup, the Bucs streaky offense could suffer mightily without their No. 1 wideout.

That wideout would be Mike Williams, as the Syracuse product was held out of practice on Wednesday due to a thigh injury. Williams sustained the injury in last week's 27-16 loss to the New Orleans Saints. If Williams cannot go, expect second-year pro Arrelious Benn to step up as the No. 1 receiver for Josh Freeman's offense.

Here is the breakout of players participating in practice Wednesday for the Tampa Bay Bucs:

Full participant

Jeremy Zuttah (knee)

Did not practice

DT Frank Okam (calf)

WR Mike Williams (thigh)

Tanard Jackson (hamstring)

Houston Texans Injury Report, Week 10: Still No Andre Johnson On The Practice Field

On Wednesday, all-pro wide receiver Andre Johnson was a no-go at Houston Texans practice. Johnson has missed five consecutive games after undergoing surgery to repair an injured hamstring. With the bye week looming and an AFC South leading 6-3 record for Gary Kubiak's bunch, the idea that Johnson would continue to play it cautious and return after the bye week.

That would mean that Johnson wouldn't return until Houston's November 27th contest versus the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"There's still a possibility," Kubiak said. "He's on schedule. Everything's going well, but it'll be a weekend decision again."

Players who did not practice on Wednesday:

  • Wide Receiver Andre Johnson
  • Offensive Tackle Eric Winston
  • Defensive End Antonio Smith
  • Outside Linebacker Connor Barwin
  • Inside Linebacker Brian Cushing
  • Defensive Tackle Earl Mitchell.
