Original Story

Texans Continue To Trim Roster: Adibi, Dickerson, Hill Among Cuts

Well, the Houston Texans are still trying to cut down their roster to 53 players, and they made some somewhat questionable cuts today. While none of these moves have been announced by the team, John McClain wrote late last night that LB Xavier Adibi, WR Dorin Dickerson, and TE Anthony Hill are among the players that have been waived.

I had a lot of confidence in Adibi having a solid career with the Texans, but it looks like the Texans are more comfortable with Tim Dobbins and the rest of their linebacking core. Adibi appeared in 11 games last season and recorded 22 tackles (16 solo).

Dorin Dickerson, the 7th-round pick out of Pittsburgh, was in contention for the 4th/5th receiver spot and looked good early in training camp. However, recently signed wide-out Bryant Johnson had a nice game against the Vikings on Thursday night and brings an important veteran presence to the team. I had high hopes for Dickerson, but his future with the Texans certainly isn't looking good.

Anthony Hill was drafted in the fourth round in 2009 and was regarded as the best blocking tight end in that draft class. He only made one catch his rookie year and missed all of last season with knee surgery. The Texans love drafting tight ends, but they failed with this one.
