Texans Open With Long Odds Of Reaching Super Bowl

Stay connected for news and updates

The line for the Texans first-ever playoff game opened pretty close, but the odds of Houston reaching the Super Bowl are some of the longest of any playoff team.

Houston is considered a 32-to-1 shot of reaching the big game, which has almost doubled from its previous odds of 17.5-to-1. Only three teams have higher odds of reaching the Super Bowl and that's saying something for the No. 3 seed in the AFC. In fact, the Houston-Cincy playoff game is the least likely to send the winner to the Super Bowl of any playoff team.

Compare Houston's situation to the New Orleans Saints, who are also a No. 3 seed, but have lower odds than anyone other than Green Bay and New England. Of course, NO isn't missing its top two quarterbacks nor is riding a three-game losing streak into the playoffs.

I guess there's something to be said about all that, but I think these odds are pretty fair. There's a chance Houston could go on a run the playoffs, but they'll have to go through some very good teams to get there. Would you bet on the Texans at 32-to-1?
